Chat is available on more websites than it ever has been before. While some of them may have a human on the other end of the conversation, many utilize a chatbot. Chatbots are programs that can have conversations with your website visitors for you. They can answer basic questions once set up and configured.

Many cloud providers now have chatbots available, and Oracle is no exception. We have invested in Oracle training, and are now setting up Oracle Digital Assistant for our clients.

One of the first things we discuss with our clients is the topics that people might ask their chatbot about. Then we design the interface around those questions and the answers. The answers can be anything from short text-based answers to links to web pages.

To be honest, I used to be leery of chatbots. But there is no denying they’ve become more prevalent in recent years. While people in my generation may prefer to pick up the phone and make a call, those in their 20s and 30s would rather chat with a bot than risk being put on hold.

Not everyone is wired the same way! Just because you can’t imagine wanting to use a chatbot doesn’t mean your potential clients think the same way. Many people prefer chatbots to email or phone calls.

Of course, the proof is in the pudding. Many well-known organizations are using chatbots, some of them specifically using Oracle Digital Assistant. That includes FedEx, Hilton Hotels & Resorts, and even the Oklahoma Office of Management & Enterprise Services.

In my mind, there’s a parallel to an organization having a website or being on social media. Years ago, many organizations in Oklahoma viewed websites as optional. Now they’re mandatory. Some of those same organizations were hesitant to get on social media. Now it’s expected! Eventually, everyone is going to expect you to have a chatbot as well.

If you need a hand setting up your chatbot, contact us at LSG Solutions. We’ll help you get it up and going.
